Esnath Kalyati is one of the directors for FOL. She is a social Scientist, Gender specialist and an Early Childhood Development expert. A skilled adviser, trainer and educator in the areas of Gender and related Social Development issues

She is a recognized Social Services Practitioner as a Family therapist, offering psycho-social therapy, counseling and guidance to individuals within their families and communities, especially adolescents and those with special needs.

She is also retired civil servant in the Government of Malawi and  was  the first female Principal Secretary in the Government of Malawi (1984) retired in 1997 and joined the United Nations system in Malawi, heading the UN Gender Policy Coordination Unit( 1997-2005.

She has served as a member to a number of NGO Boards, SOS Children’s Villages Malawi Trust, being the longest, and presently its Board Chairperson. Currently serving as a Board member to: Goods for Good; Malawi Village of Hope; Fountain of Life and Coalition on Early Childhood Development.

Highest Education qualification: MSc (Econ) in Applied Social Sciences. University of Wales at Cardiff, UK (1976).
